Harsco Establishes Operations at Egyptian Mill
08/09/2016 - Mill contractor Harsco Corp. will provide slag and scrap management services for an Egyptian steel mill under a new multiyear agreement, the company has announced.
Valued at more than US$35 million, the contract with Ezz Steel’s Sadat City mill also calls for the future development of metal recovery and briquetting plants. The contract took effect 1 July 2016.
“This new contract is an excellent opportunity for Harsco to build an even stronger presence in this strategically important region,” said Harsco president and chief executive Nick Grasberger said in a statement.
“This expanded relationship with Ezz is testament to the trust and confidence that we work to build at every site, every day.”
Harsco has a relationship with Ezz through service agreements at mills in Sokhna and Alexandria, Egypt.The company said the new agreement will broaden the horizons for the company’s metals and minerals division in the African and Middle Eastern steel markets.
Sadat City is an electric arc furnace-based operation that produces rebar, according to Ezz’s website.
