HarbisonWalker Begins Firing Up Ohio Refractories Facility
03/21/2018 - U.S. refractories manufacturer HarbisonWalker International has finished construction of its new monolithic refractories plant and is starting up operations.
"We're in the commissioning of all the equipment, and we’re looking forward to a grand opening in the next couple of months," said HarbisonWalker chairwoman and chief executive Carol Jackson, speaking Wednesday during the S&P Global Platts Steel Markets North America conference in Chicago, Ill., USA. The annual conference concludes today.
HarbisonWalker last winter revealed plans to build the plant, which is capable of producing 80,000 metric tons annually.
Jackson told attendees that the plant, located in Ohio, will feature an advanced form, fill and seal packaging technology that is new to North America.
"Our new state-of-the-art plant is truly going to be a showcase and a representation of the future of refractory production," she said.
