Grupo Simec Starts Up Mexican SBQ Mill
02/20/2018 - Grupo Simec’s new bar and rod mill in Apizaco, Mexico, has rolled its first billet, the equipment supplier on the project has announced.
"Grupo Simec and Danieli will continue to improve production and plant completion with a common target: reinforcing the plant’s leading position in Mexico, as a unique producer and processor of SBQ steels for the automotive market," Danieli said in a statement.
The greenfield mill, capable of producing 600,000 tons annually, makes large blooms, bars and wire rod.
Grupo Simec invested approximately US$600 million in the project.
