Greer Steel Makes Upgrades to Ohio Mill

Greer Steel recently made a number of upgrades and improvements to its 18" 4-high reversing mill to improve surface clealiness and Cpk performance of its strip steel products.

Greer Steel president John Raese says the company is committed to a never ending process of improvement and investment to deliver the industry’s best strip steel. For that reason, it has made improvements including: a hydrometer room revamp, new coolant control valve and pump upgrade, new mill drives and associated controls, refurbished non-contact isotope gauges, and new mill control software which improves Cpk performance by 15%.

"I believe we share a common resolution and commitment to success," Raese said in a letter announcing the improvements. "We will never be satisfied with the status quo and will always do whatever is needed to provide you with world class strip and flat wire."

With its main plant in Dover, Ohio, and a service center in Ferndale, Mich., Greer Steel is capable of producing cold rolled strip steel to a wide variety of specifications. It offers products from low carbon to high carbon and alloys, from 0.020" to 0.187" thick, from 1000 to 1095 grade, and from #3 appliance finish to pattern and matte finishes.
