GM Recognizes Three Steel Producers

The steelmakers were among more than 100 suppliers recognized by the automobile manufacturer during its 31st annual supplier appreciation event. Cleveland-Cliffs and Nucor were recognized as Suppliers of the Year, and POSCO received the Overdrive Award.

The Overdrive Award is a distinction reserved for suppliers who display outstanding achievement across key priorities in GM’s global purchasing and supply chain.

Suppliers of the Year and Overdrive recipients are selected by a global GM team and are chosen based on their performance in business and cultural criteria, including quality, launch, supply chain, total enterprise cost, innovation and engineering, communication and transparency, and safety.

For Cleveland-Cliffs, it was the sixth year the company, through predecessor steelmaking businesses, has won the honor.

“Cleveland-Cliffs’ dedication to serving the automotive industry is at our deepest core, and we remain committed to our position as the leading automotive steel supplier in North America,” said Cleveland-Cliffs chief executive Lourenco Goncalves.

“Our acceptance of this award for the sixth straight year is great recognition for everything we do company-wide to have this leadership position – from product quality, to customer service, to innovation.”
