GM Names Mittal Steel as Global Supplier of the Year

May 5, 2006 — Mittal Steel Co. NV has been named a General Motors Supplier of the Year for its overall business performance in 2005.

Winners for the GM Supplier of the Year award are selected by a global team of executives from purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics who base their decisions on supplier performance in quality, service, technology and price. This year, General Motors honored 85 suppliers for their outstanding performance throughout 2005.

"We consider Mittal Steel to be a role model for all suppliers," said Bo Andersson, Vice President of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. "They are recognized as a GM Supplier of the Year because they exceeded our expectations in 2005.

"General Motors has long been recognized within our industry as a demanding global manufacturer, dependent on the highest quality products and excellent delivery performance. As such, it is a tremendous honor to be recognized by GM as their Supplier of the Year," said Lakshmi N. Mittal, Chairman of Mittal Steel. "The award reflects our position as one of the highest quality steel producers in the world and is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our employees, who are focused on ensuring we continue to develop, produce and deliver steels of the highest quality to our customers."
