Global Steel Production Grew in 2016. Here's How Much.
12/05/2017 - Global crude steel production rose 0.5% to nearly 1.63 billion metric tons in 2016, according to the World Steel Association’s latest annual statistical yearbook.
According to the yearbook, which was released on Tuesday, China accounted for 49.7% of global production. Its output rose about half-percent in 2016 to 808.4 million metric tons.
North America production fell 0.2% to 110.6 million metric tons. In the European Union, production declined 2.5% to 162 million metric tons.
Indian output, however, grew 7.2% to 95.5 million metric tons.
