Gerdau OKs New Skinpass Mill
04/11/2016 - Brazil’s Gerdau has awarded the final acceptance certificate on a new hot skinpass mill at its Ouro Branco plant, the supplier on the project has announced.
According to the supplier, Danieli, the new skinpass mill, which is equipped with an in-line side trimmer, will process up to 823,000 metric tons per year of hot rolled strip in a variety of grades. The plant processes strip in thicknesses of between 1.5 and 12.7mm and widths of up to 2,100 mm.
Danieli said the plant’s distinguishing feature is its turret-type side trimmer, which is situated after the mill stand.
“Thanks to the combined use of mechanics and rolling models, Danieli is able to offer high-performance parameters in terms of quality and guaranteed tolerances of final products, demonstrated by the final acceptance of the plant,” Danieli said in a statement.
