Gerdau Announces Management Changes

Gerdau announced that Guilherme Gerdau Johannpeter, president of Gerdau Long Steel North America, is being promoted to executive vice president and will join Gerdau’s Executive Committee. 

In this role, he will be responsible for the Gerdau Special Steel business division (units in Brazil, Europe and North America). Mark Marcucci continues to be the executive leader of the global special steel business division and will report to Guilherme Johannpeter.
 
Peter Campo, vice president of supply chain for Gerdau Long Steel North America, is being promoted to president of the business division, effective 4 April 2014.
 
Johannpeter, currently based in Tampa, Fla., will relocate to Sao Paulo, Brazil. Prior to serving as president of Gerdau Long Steel North America, he served as the leader of Gerdau Special Steel North America, which he led until 2011. Prior to that, he was vice president of special bar quality and wire rod operations at Gerdau Long Steel North America and joined the Gerdau Long Steel North America Executive Committee, accumulating responsibilities for part of downstream operations and the specials division. He first relocated to the U.S. in 2006, when he joined Gerdau Long Steel North America as marketing director after holding several executive positions in Brazil. Johannpeter holds a commercial law degree from Unisinos University in Brazil and a Master’s in Business Administration with double majors in Marketing and Finance from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Evanston, Ill.
 
Campo’s new position is based in Tampa. Before his appointment as vice president of supply chain in 2013, Campo served as vice president of downstream operations. He was named vice president and general manager of the Northern fabrication group in downstream in 2010 and became part of the business division’s executive committee in 2009. Campo joined Gerdau in 2008 as the vice president of procurement and sales, planning and operations.
 
Prior to Gerdau, Campo held several positions at General Electric, with growing responsibilities in general management, supply chain, manufacturing and quality in the U.S. and China. Campo holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree from Rice University.

Commenting on the appointments, Thomas J. Johannpeter was appointed to the AISI Board of Directors in 2011 and has also served on a variety of Board-level committees.
