Gas Driller Successfully Employs New U. S. Steel OCTG Connection
09/09/2015 - U. S. Steel Tubular Products’ new casing connection has been successfully used in a southwestern Pennsylvania shale-gas well, the company has announced.
According to the U. S. Steel subsidiary, natural gas producer Range Resources Corp. employed the casing connection, the USS-Liberty TC, on its Greaves 6H well in Washington County, Pa., USA.
The USS-Liberty TC casing connection is designed for use in the most challenging wells, U. S. Steel said. It also said the product has been validated through testing performed under the most current, and rigorous, testing standard: API RP 5C5:2014 CAL IV.
In a statement, John K. Applegath, Range Resources’ southern Marcellus shale senior vice president, said the company plans on using the connectors in more of its gas wells. U. S. Steel, meanwhile, said it will be introducing the product to more of its customers.
