Friedrich Kocks to Supply 3-Roll RSB to Chinese Stainless Producer

The upgrade will increase product quality in order to meet customer requirements, thus strengthening the company’s market position.

Taizhou Daming is a privately owned stainless steel producer with more than 400 employees. The company’s products are widely applied in many different fields ranging from the chemical, manufacturing, food processing to shipbuilding and automotive industries. Taizhou Daming is located in Taizhou, a city in central Jiangsu Province in eastern China, with a population of roughly 4.6 million residents.

The heavy duty reducing & sizing block will be implemented as finishing block in the existing 200,000-metric-ton-per-year stainless steel bar mill behind the 2-high reversing roughing mill and the intermediate and pre-finishing mill consisting of ten 2-high HV stands. The block will roll straight bars in the range from 16.0 to 100.0 mm diameter with tightest tolerances out of a one pass family in the upstream mill onto the cooling bed.

The 3-roll RSB is dimensioned to operate with four 3-roll stands with 370 mm nominal roll diameter. The modular future-oriented new drive system grants a small foot print in the layout, a drastically reduced oil-lubrication volume and a simplified maintenance schedule. Intelligent engineering leads furthermore to reduced hydraulic functions, which ensures a safe and environmentally friendly rolling.

The scope of supply comprises the 3-roll reducing & sizing block with automatic quick stand changing system, the roll shop with quick roll change, the mill configuration program BAMICON and CAPAS, the computer-aided system for accurate adjustment of rolls and guides of the 3-roll stands. Supervision of erection, commissioning and training of customer personnel are as usual also KOCKS responsibility.

Implementing the new 3-roll RSB will enable Taizhou Daming to reach its target and meet not only current but also future customer requirements.

Start-up of the upgraded mill is expected by the end of 2015.
