French Plate Mill Receives Support for Furnace Modernization
01/18/2021 - Dillinger Group subsidiary Dillinger France has received a grant from the French government that will help it reduce CO2 emissions.
According to the company, the grant will support a EUR10 million project to modernize the No. 2 pusher furnace at its facility in Dunkirk. The project aims to increase slab heating capacity for the rolling of heavy plates, while optimizing energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
To that end, the company will install new high-performance burners, a heat recovery system and new digital tools to manage furnace operations. The project is expected to yield a 2.7% reduction in CO2 emissions.
The work is expected to be completed this summer.
