Former Bethlehem Steel CEO Dies at 86
12/01/2015 - Walter F. Williams, an engineer who worked his way up the ranks of Bethlehem Steel and lead the company as its chief executive, has died. He was 86.
According to The (Allentown) Morning Call newspaper, Williams died 28 November in a retirement community in Palm City, Fla., USA.
Williams began his career with Bethlehem Steel in 1951 after graduating from the University of Delaware. He spent nearly all of his career in operations and shipbuilding and helped design the company’s Burns Harbor plant, its most profitable, the newspaper said.
Williams was named chief executive in 1986 and led the company for the next six years. He stepped down in 1992.
