Forger Turns to Danieli for First Long Products Mill
10/18/2022 - Mexican forged products maker Frisa has contracted Danieli to build what will be the company’s first long products rolling mill.
According to Danieli, the mill will produce rounds and squares from carbon, tool and stainless steels for industrial markets. The mill will be set up in Garcia, Nuevo Leon, and will convert Frisa ingots heated in natural gas furnaces and descaled with high-pressure industrial water.
Danieli said the mill will consist of a reversing breakdown stand followed by an in-line intermediate and finishing mill made up of six SHS housingless stands arranged in vertical and horizontal configuration. Finishing equipment will include shears, saws, marking stations, a walking beam cooling bed and slow-cooling stations.
“An advanced Danieli Automation control system will fully guarantee automatic process settings and control of the new mill,” Danieli said.
Commissioning is set for the second quarter of 2024.
