Forecast: Renewable Energy Will Increase Global Steel Demand

10/04/2022 - New solar and wind farms are expected to drive new steel demand of 2% annually by 2030 and 4% by 2050, according to a new forecast from iron ore miner BHP Group Ltd.

The company said renewable energy tends to be more steel intensive than fossil fuels. And as renewable generation grows, the company believes global steel consumption could rise by more than 40 million metric tons annually in this decade.
