In a statement, Fives said the DMS SkinPass 4Hi mill is designed for wet processing and has a maximum rolling force of 5500 kN. Other design features include limited deflection for reduced friction, automatic clamping and quick-change work rolls.  

“Fives was selected for its reactivity, design flexibility and product quality. Given a limited line footprint, the inclusion of the skinpass as well as a new bridle roll between the skinpass and the tension leveler demonstrates innovative engineering,” Clay Spangler, operations manager for SDI’s Techs Group, said in a statement. 

Fives said the contract builds on a relationship that established last year, when Steel Dynamics signed Fives to upgrade the No. 2 continuous galvanizing line at its Columbus, Miss., USA sheet mill and to supply the new No. 3 line at the same facility.
