Fives Wins Contracts for Upgrades at ArcelorMittal Plants
12/21/2015 - Industrial engineering group Fives has won contracts for upgrades to ArcelorMittal facilities in China and Romania, the company has announced.
In Romania, Fives has been tapped to modernize a furnace and cooling tower on the hot-dipped galvanizing line at the company’s Galati plant. Fives said the furnace will be equipped with its new compact jet coolers, and the cooling tower will be outfitted with AERIS cooling units.
The work will allow the line to process new thermal cycles and achieve appropriate coil coating quality, Fives said.
In China, the company will provide engineering services for a project on the continuous mixed annealing and aluminizing line at Valin ArcelorMittal Automotive Steel Co. Ltd., a joint venture with Hunan Valin Iron & Steel.
The project is intended to optimize the line’s performance, reducing the amount of time needed to switch from continuous annealing to hot-dipped aluminum-silicon coating mode.
