In a statement, Fives said the company ordered a DMS 20Hi EcoMill, a reversible cold mill that is more typically used to process other types of value-added steels 

“With more than 100 references worldwide over the last 60 years, DMS 20Hi cold rolling mills from Fives are proven for applications in stainless and silicon steels. In view of the fact that the mechanical properties of the UHSS or GIGA steel are similar to the ones of stainless steel, DMS 20Hi EcoMill was a silver bullet for GIGA steel processing,” Fives said. 

The mill will have a capacity of 180,000 metric tons and will process ultrahigh-strength strip in thicknesses ranging from 0.5 mm to 2.5 mm and in widths ranging from 800 mm to 1,650 mm.
