Fives Names New President of Machine Tool Manufacturing Unit

According to the company, Thiry has more than 30 years of domestic and international manufacturing experience. He most recently served as chief executive of Fives Landis Ltd. in the United Kingdom.

“Steve Thiry has distinguished himself in manufacturing and is uniquely qualified to represent the Fives brand and lead us into the future,” said Jean-Camille Uring, chairman of Fives Machining Systems Inc.

Prior to joining Fives, Thiry served as business development director at The Association for Manufacturing Technology. In that role, he provided management consulting to American manufacturers interested in expanding into international markets.

He also worked as the director of market analysis and integration for Crane Co., a U.S. industrial products company. There, he led the acquisition and integration of multiple international and domestic companies.

Thiry also served as vice president Europe at Ingersoll Rand, where he oversaw business in Western Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, and the Commonwealth of Independent States. He also was the general manager of its Asia Pacific business, where he oversaw operations in Australia, Japan, and Korea and established new joint venture companies in China and India.

An industrial engineering firm, Fives designs and builds process equipment and production lines for a variety of industries, including aluminum and steel.
