The first batch of ArcelorMittal Galati interns have graduated summer school. 20 students from Romania, one from France and one from China studied and worked on practical projects which covered real production situations which can be improved. Each student worked for 8 weeks in teams of specialists and benefitted from the assistance of mentors – steel plant experts - who guided them.
The participants – who were selected from a pool of nearly 100 applicants – have been remunerated and received the benefits of regular employee.
"There was a lot of positive energy. I wish to congratulate the students and their mentors for their deep involvement in this experience," said Bruno Ribo, Chief Executive Officer ArcelorMittal.
"I would like to congratulate ArcelorMittal Galati for releasing the energies of the young specialists," said Prof. Dr. Catalin Fetecau, the Dean of the mechanics faculty, "Dunarea de Jos" Galati State University.
"We trust that our internship programs will become a tradition and after the success obtained in 2012, we hope that the current students will become "ambassadors" of ArcelorMittal Galati development programs", said Mihaela Craciun, Head of Human Resources ArcelorMittal Galati.
The summer school is one of the directions of the internship program, launched this year, including also thematic sessions, lectures from Romanian and expatriate specialists about actual projects, short practical stages for deploying the theoretical information and plant tours to get familiar with the production equipment and processes.
