Fire Knocks ArcelorMittal Blast Furnace Off-Line
07/16/2020 - ArcelorMittal is assessing the damage following a Thursday morning fire at its integrated Burns Harbor plant in Indiana.
According to media reports, the fire started after a stove dome on the D furnace failed. No injuries were reported.
"We are thankful there are no injuries as a result of the incident. We are creating a timeline for repairs, and the company does not anticipate any impact on our ability to meet customer demand," a company spokesman told The Times newspaper of northwest Indiana.
Commodities news and pricing service Argus Media said the furnace remains offline.
