Finnish EAF Puts New Sampling Manipulator Into Service
07/26/2017 - Ovako has commissioned an automatic electric arc furnace (EAF) temperature and sampling manipulator at its Imatra plant in Finland.
According to MORE, which supplied the manipulator, the four-axis CATFIS 2.1 operates through the EAF’s slag door.
In a statement, Ovako said the project called for a robust and reliable manipulator designed to function in an especially harsh environment. The CATFIS system fit the bill, it said.
“Mill safety is the most important issue. CATFIS 2.1 makes it possible to (significantly) reduce the risk of injuries and is an essential step forward in our safety work,” the company said.
Ovako Imatra produces low-alloy round bars for the automotive and engineering sectors.
