Evraz Vitkovice Steel Signs Long-Term Supply Agreement with Ostrava

Evraz Vitkovice Steel, Czech Republic, has signed a long-term agreement with ArcelorMittal Ostrava that guarantees the supply of liquid pig iron from ArcelorMittal Ostrava to the steelmaking facilities of Evraz Vitkovice Steel.
 
“This agreement is a very positive development for Evraz Vitkovice Steel, which secures constant supply of our mill with liquid pig iron until 2015,” said Giuseppe Mannina, Evraz’s Vice President for International Operations and Sales.
 
The newly signed agreement follows ArcelorMittal’s just-announced expansion of ownership in ArcelorMittal Ostrava when it acquired the Czech Government’s 10.9% stake in the plant for $339 million.
 
Evraz Vítkovice Steel, a subsidiary of the Evraz Group, is a leading European manufacturer of rolled steel products located in Ostrava, Czech Republic. It is one of Europe’s top producers of heavy plates and is the only plate producer in the Czech Republic. Production capacity of its steel plant is 965,000 tonnes, while its plate mill has an annual capacity of 755,000 tonnes.
