EVRAZ North America President and CEO Mike Rehwinkel to Retire
06/12/2013 - Mike Rehwinkel announced his retirement as president and CEO of EVRAZ North America effective 1 July 2013. Assuming the role will be Conrad Winkler, currently the company’s executive vice president – long products.
“One of the accomplishments I’m proudest of over my tenure with EVRAZ is building a strong leadership team,” said Rehwinkel. “Conrad has proven himself an effective leader focused on creating value for EVRAZ and its customers. I’m confident that he will do extremely well in this new role.”
Rehwinkel agreed to serve as executive chairman of the EVRAZ North America Board.
“I regard EVRAZ as a solid steel company led and operated by some of the finest people in the industry,” he stated. “I’m very pleased to continue actively working with EVRAZ and remaining an advocate for the company in the private and public sectors.”
Winkler joined EVRAZ in May 2011, growing the company’s rail business to the largest in North America and improving the rod and bar business substantially. In addition to initiating multi-million dollar upgrades to the Pueblo, Colo., site over the last few years, he has expanded long products research and development, and broadened the overall business product mix.
Previously a partner at the global management consulting firm Booz & Company, Winkler led its North American manufacturing service offerings focused on manufacturing intensive industries — trucks, auto, steel, aerospace, construction equipment and industrials. Winkler holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from MIT, and master’s degrees in business administration and manufacturing management from Northwestern University. He is also a veteran, serving on nuclear submarines in the U.S. Navy for five years.
“I’m honored to be following Mike as president and CEO,” said Winkler. “He’s truly been a great mentor and leader. I look forward to the challenges and opportunities in this dynamic industry.”
