EUROPIPE Bags Multiyear Order for Large-Diameter Pipe
04/04/2017 - Germany’s EUROPIPE has won an order for 635,000 tons of large-diameter pipe for a 300-mile natural gas transmission line in Germany.
The order for the 56-inch diameter pipe will be fulfilled over the next two years from EUROPIPE’s Mülheim an der Ruhr facility. EUROPIPE is a joint venture of Salzgitter Group and AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke, each of which will be providing the steel for the pipe. Pipe coating has been contracted to MÜLHEIM PIPECOATINGS GmbH.
Known as the EUGAL project, the pipeline will link up with the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, bringing Russian natural gas into Germany. The line is being built by TSO Gascade, which is owned by Germany’s BASF and Russia’s Gazprom.
EUGAL would begin at the Baltic Sea and run south to Deutschneudorf, and from there extend into Czechia. The pipeline is to be put into service at the end of 2019.
