EU Sets Anti-Dumping Duties on Chinese Pipe, Tube
11/14/2016 - The European Union is imposing provisional anti-dumping duties on seamless pipe and tube from China.
The duties range from 43.5% to 81.1% and apply to pipe and tube with outside diameters of 16 inches or greater. In setting the tariffs, concluded that producers were undercutting EU prices, causing material injury to European producers.
Chinese officials were quick to criticize the decision, calling the tariffs protectionist.
"China has expressed great concerns and worries about the EU's trade protectionist tendency over steel," China’s commerce ministry said, according The (London) Financial Times.
“The European steel industry’s problems are due to weak economic growth, not because of competition with Chinese steel products,” the ministry added.
