EU Looks to Strengthen Trade Measures
11/08/2016 - Some leaders in the European Union are hoping to push ahead with an effort to stiffen the union’s anti-dumping tariffs, revising them to be more in line with those imposed by the United States, reports The (London) Financial Times.
According to The Times, EU leaders last month promised to settle the matter by year’s end, saying action was needed to “safeguard European jobs.” But it remains to be seen whether a deal can be worked out with those who fear that strengthening the tariffs would result in retaliatory trade actions by the Chinese, The Times reported.
