Essar Steel Honored for Work in Water Conservation

Essar Steel was conferred the first prize in the ‘Water Reuse Project of the Year 2010-11’ category by Water Digest for its outstanding work in water conservation.
 
Water Digest Water Awards (WDWA) is a platform to honor and appreciate outstanding environmental initiatives and achievements. Established in 2006 to honor distinguished work carried out by various companies/NGOs/individuals to treat/recycle and conserve water, the Water Digest Water Awards are supported by UNESCO and India’s Ministry of Water Resources of India. The award’s key focus is the people, innovation and processes that contribute to water resource sustainability. The award also highlights those that have worked to promote the message of water use efficiency to people, institutions, government and industries.
 
Essar Steel’s Water Digest award was presented by Vincent Pala, Union Minister of State for Water Resources, Armoogum Parsuramen - Director and UNESCO Representative to SAARC, and A. K. Bajaj Chairman, Central Water Commission. A total of 75 companies participated in the competition.
