Essar Steel Commissions Blast Furnace, DRI Plant, and Meltshop

Essar Steel has commissioned a 1.73 million tonne-per-annum Blast Furnace and a 1.7 million tonne-per-annum mega DRI module (its sixth module), as well as phase 1 (2.5 million tonnes per annum) of the 5 million tonne-per-annum Steel Meltshop, at the Hazira (India) facility.
 
The expansion project for the integrated steel plant (Plant B) will increase total steelmaking capacity at Hazira to 10 million tonnes per annum by Q1 2011. Investment for the expansion is Rs. 17,500 Crore; total investment in the Hazira Steel Complex is Rs 30,000 Crore.
 
These facilities have been set up adjacent to its existing Plant A. Infrastructure at Hazira comprises a 30 million tonne-per-annum all weather port and captive power plants to support the operations.
