Esmark Settles Lawsuit with Herman Strauss
05/12/2008 - Esmark confirms settlement of litigation pending between its Esmark Steel Service Group and Herman Strauss, Inc. over scrap purchased by Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel.
Esmark Inc. confirmed the settlement of litigation pending in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia between its wholly owned subsidiary Esmark Steel Service Group and Herman Strauss, Inc. (HSI).
The litigation had arisen out of a commercial dispute relating to steel scrap purchased from HSI by Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.
By mutual agreement, the terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
Esmark Inc. is a vertically integrated steel producer and distributor, combining steel production capabilities through both blast furnace and electric arc furnace technologies with the just-in-time delivery of value-added steel products to a broad customer base concentrated in the Ohio Valley and Midwest regions. Currently headquartered in Wheeling, W.Va., the company produces carbon flat-rolled products for a range of applications, with products including hot rolled, cold rolled, hot dipped galvanized, electro-galvanized, black plate and electrolytic tinplate.
