End of Month Marks the End of an Era for Dofasco
11/30/2007 - Reflecting the heritage of two steel industry leaders, Dofasco will on Friday change its name to ArcelorMittal Dofasco.
Effective Friday, Dofasco will change its name to ArcelorMittal Dofasco Inc.
"Retaining our identity as Dofasco in association with ArcelorMittal allows us to build on a reputation that has taken many years to earn and is the result of the hard work and commitment of generations of Dofasco employees," commented President and CEO Juergen Schachler.
"We are combining two names that stand for leadership in the steel business: Dofasco, as Canada's foremost steelmaker, and ArcelorMittal, the world's No. 1 steel company."
Schachler noted that Dofasco has changed its name on other occasions during its 95-year history. "Our company's name has changed in the past, but what hasn't changed is the dedication and commitment of our people who work tirelessly to make Dofasco a leader in the steel industry and in our community,” said Schachler. “Our strength continues to be our people.”
ArcelorMittal is the world's largest steel company with 320,000 employees in 60 countries. Dofasco is a leading North American steel producer and supplier of high-quality flat-rolled steels.
