Employees Graduate from ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s Apprenticeship Program
12/10/2014 - On 18 November 2014, 27 employees graduated from ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s Apprenticeship Program at the annual Apprenticeship Graduation Dinner.
The graduation recognizes their Certificate of Apprenticeship (C of A) achievement, which marks the completion of formal training. With required on-the-job hours completed, graduates have demonstrated proof of the necessary competencies identified for their trade. The last step in their training is successful completion of the Certificate of Qualification exam.
Sixteen mentors who played a key role in helping our newest graduates realize their goal were also recognized, while representatives from The Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities; Canadian Skills Training Employment Coalition; Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters; Canadian Apprenticeship Forum; and Mohawk College also joined the celebration.
Since 1948, ArcelorMittal has trained highly skilled students, preparing them for a career in manufacturing. Over the decades, the program has grown into one of Canada’s largest and most innovative, earning several accolades including the 2013 Minister’s Award for Apprenticeship Training from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
