Electric Metal Makers Guild Names New President, Officers
07/01/2016 - Tom Kantor, the general manager of primary operations at Carpenter Technology Corp.’s Latrobe, Pa., facility, has been named president of the Electric Metal Makers Guild.
Also named as 2016-2017 officers are:
First Vice President William VanderWaal, of CMC Steel Texas; Second Vice President Noah Henson, of Carpenter Technology; Secretary-Treasurer Jonathon Ridgeway, of CMC Steel Alabama; and Officer Without Portfolio Jay Verhoff, of Finkl Steel, Chicago, Ill.
The officers were named during the guild’s annual meeting, hosted this year by Keystone Steel and Wire in East Peoria, Ill. Founded in 1933, the guild promotes development in electric furnace steelmaking.
Also during the meeting, Gary Baker, president of Illinois-based Arc Furnace Pro, was presented with the guild’s Billy Wallis Award, which is given in recognition of achievement or contribution to the electric metal making industry.
Baker was recognized for his efforts in maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing furnace regulation and power systems and for providing technical training to operations and maintenance personnel at all levels.
Additionally, Brendan Connolly, of Ellwood Quality Steels, was presented with the Ron E. Lincoln Guilder of the Year Award for his contributions to guild during the past year.
