Dover Hydraulics Named A.L.B.A. Authorized Service Center for North American Steelmakers

Founded in 1956, A.L.B.A. manufactures, markets and services cutting machinery for steelmakers around the world. A.L.B.A. torch tips, cutting equipment and related machinery are used in steel manufacturing plants in 60 countries. Installations include those built and commissioned by Danieli Group, Primetals (formerly Siemens-VAI) and SMS Group in many of the world’s leading steel manufacturing plants.

Aligning with Dover Hydraulics complements A.L.B.A.’s global service strategy. A.L.B.A. cutting equipment is gaining momentum globally, with recent start-ups of the world’s largest round bloom caster at A.B.S. in Italy and the largest vertical jumbo bloom caster at Timken-Faircrest.

“The vast experience of Dover Hydraulics with America’s steelmakers provides a great service platform for A.L.B.A.’s full line of cutting equipment,” said Enrico D’Ottavi, A.L.B.A. sales manager. “Dover’s manufacturing experts are in steel plants daily and thoroughly understand the processes and machinery that must be kept in peak condition to perform to the world’s highest standards.”

J.C. Raies, Dover Hydraulics business development manager, said aligning with A.L.B.A. for steel-cutting equipment creates a strong partnership to benefit both companies’ steel-making customers.

“With decades of work for steelmakers, Dover Hydraulics often is asked to bring our experience to assist on repairs and service beyond hydraulics,” Raies said. “We are pleased to have authorized service status with A.L.B.A., as it enables us to deliver even more comprehensive service to our steel customers.”

The A.L.B.A. product line includes torch-cutting machines for billets, blooms, beam-blanks and slabs, special torch-cutting machines for scrap, de-burring systems, oxygen lances, gas control stations, electric arc furnace burners, and heating and flame detection systems. In addition, A.L.B.A. makes a complete line of cutting tips and torches, oxygen-lancing equipment, flash-back safety devices, welding and cutting handles and devices, hose reels, pressure reducers and special gas equipment.
