December Steel Shipments up 8.6% from November
02/17/2011 - U.S. steel mills shipped 7,111,031 net tons for the month of December 2010, an 8.6% increase from the 6,549,025 net tons shipped in the previous month and a 17.8% increase from the 6,034,538 net tons shipped in December 2009, according to the latest report from AISI.
U.S. steel mills shipped 7,111,031 net tons for the month of December 2010 according to the latest report from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
The December total represents an 8.6% increase from the 6,549,025 net tons shipped in the previous month, November 2010, and a 17.8% increase from the 6,034,538 net tons shipped in December 2009.
Year-to-date shipments are 83,443,836 net tons, a 38.3% increase vs. 2009 shipments of 60,346,710 for twelve months.
A month-to-month comparison of shipments shows the following changes:
· Hot rolled sheet, up 16%
· Hot dipped galvanized sheet and strip, up 7%
· Cold rolled sheet, up 1%
