Deacero Cuts Ribbon on New U.S. Headquarters

Mexico’s largest producer of steel wire has established a new global trade and corporate affairs headquarters in Washington, D.C., USA.

Deacero celebrated the grand opening of the headquarters on Tuesday in a ceremony attended by company executives and Mexico’s ambassador to the United States, Estaban Moctezuma. According to an official press release, Deacero is the first Mexican steel company to establish a Washington, D.C., office, and the first Mexico-based company to do so since the signing of the U.S.-Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA).

"[Washington, D.C.] is where decisions are made that affect our company, its workers and its customers — not only in the U.S., but also in Mexico, and in other international markets where we do business,” said Deacero chief executive Raul Gutierrez. “We want to stay informed about those decisions and be part of the public dialogue that shapes them. The new office will give us the direct presence needed to do this well."

Deacero is one of Mexico’s largest producers of long products and rebar and its leading producer of steel wire. It operates three electric arc furnace steel mills and 15 wire manufacturing plants, including U.S.-based Mid Continent Steel and Wire Inc.
