Deacero Awards Plant Modernization Contract

According to Danieli, the project entails installation of a replacement electric arc furnace equipped with a continuous scrap charge system. It will take the place of the existing No. 2 furnace, improving meltshop performance and reducing its environmental footprint, Danieli said.

Additionally, the bar and wire rod mills are to be upgraded. Plans call for a new 130-tons-per-hour high-speed bar finishing line equipped with two Danieli HTC High-Speed Double Twin-Channel systems and automatic bar counting stations.

The improvement will allow the mill to produce rebar in 9.5-mm diameters at a stable working speed of 40 m/second.

At the same time, the existing wire rod finishing block will receive a new twin-module block, high-speed shears for automatic bar cropping and oil-film bearing laying head. The upgrade will allow for consistent finishing speeds of up to 120 m/second.

Work is to be completed in 2024.

“The continuous, long-lasting technology partnership with Danieli over the decades has made possible the achievement of superior plant performances and production growth, which has resulted in Deacero long-product leadership for highly demanding quality construction rebar and wire rod for local and international markets,” Danieli said.
