Danieli Wins Order for Canadian Bar Mill Upgrades
03/17/2016 - Danieli has been awarded a contract to install a new finishing end at ArcelorMittal’s Longueuil bar mill in the Canadian province of Quebec, the mill builder has announced.
Danieli said it will outfit the mill’s existing cooling bed with a new water forced cooling system, lining-up rollers and an exit table with an automatic layer-prep system. The order also includes a 10-roll multi-strand straightener, a cold shear and an automatic, single-head magnetic stacker. Danieli Automation will supply electric motors and an automation system.
ArcelorMittal revealed its plans to upgrade the mill’s finishing end in October 2015, saying it planned to invest CAD27 million in the project.
The project is expected to lift the mill’s production capacity to 500,000 metric tons per year and allow for new value-added products.
The new finishing end is to be brought into service in March 2017.
