Danieli Wins Contract for German Bar Mill Improvements
08/04/2017 - Hennigsdorfer Elektrostahlwerke GmbH has awarded a contract to Danieli to modernize its bar mill in Germany, the equipment supplier has announced.
Under the contract, Danieli will install a new intermediate rolling mill with H and HV convertible stands to complement a new roll pass design for steel rounds. In a second stage of the project, Danieli will replace the finishing train and install one of its Compact Sizing Units.
“The Compact Sizing Unit’s ‘ready-to-roll’ automatic mill stand change system will allow product changes in less than five minutes, easing the production of small lots,” Danieli said in a statement.
Danieli Automation will supply the automation package and other equipment, including a HiProfile Lite measuring system.
The mill is being designed to produce rounds in diameters between 14 mm and 80 mm and rebar in diameters between 9.5 mm to 40 mm. It also will be designed to accommodate future modifications allowing for production of additional products, including 50 x 6 mm to 140 x 60 mm flats.
The work is to be completed in the first and third quarters of 2018.
