Danieli Wean United to Provide New Skinpass Facility for Usiminas Cosipa
12/16/2008 - Danieli Wean United will supply a new Danieli skinpass mill and coil dividing line for Usiminas Cosipa’s No. 2 Hot Strip Mill Plant in Cubatão, São Paulo.
Usiminas Cosipa (Companhia Siderúrgica Paulista), Brazil, recently contracted Danieli Wean United for the supply of a new Danieli skinpass mill and coil dividing line to be installed in the company’s No. 2 Hot Strip Mill Plant in Cubatão, São Paulo.
The skinpass facility comprises a skinpass mill and coil dividing line with related coil handling equipment, including cranes, high-speed transfer car, and storage saddles. Both lines will have an annual capacity of 800,000 tonnes of HRC in carbon and alloy steels with a maximum tensile strength of 800 Mpa. They will operate on a three-shift basis, for an annual total of 1,600,000 tonnes.
Strip widths from the new facility will range from 700 to 2050 mm, and thicknesses will range from 1.2 to 6.5 mm for the skinpass mill, and from 1.2 to 12.7 mm for the coil dividing line.
Danieli Automation will supply the electrical and automation systems, including Levels 1, 2, and 3, with mathematical models for pre-set, tracking of the current conditions, and self-adaptation of the mill and coil handling.
The new skinpass mill, which is expected to be operational by 2010-11, marks Danieli Wean United’s sixth skinpass mill order for the year.
