Danieli Upgrades EAF at Acciaierie Fonderie Cividale
12/23/2019 - Danieli Automation has completed an upgrade to Acciaierie Fonderie Cividale’s 35-metric-ton AC electric arc furnace in Italy, the equipment supplier announced.
The furnace is now powered by Danieli’s Q-ONE system, which is based on insulated-gate bipolar transistor power electronic technology. Two 12.5 kA Q-ONE modules were installed over the course of three days.
Arc stability has improved considerably, leading to improvements in the overall melting process that resulted an initial saving of up to 10% energy consumption and up to 25% power-on time reduction, according to Danieli.
Similar to the Q-ONE installation at ABS Sisak, the Q-ONE at Acciaierie Fonderie Cividale achieved low network flicker due to the quick control of voltage and current, the company said.
