Danieli to Upgrade Usha Martin Bar Mill, Wire Rod Mill
07/03/2007 - Danieli will upgrade Usha Martin’s wire rod mill and complete the bar mill at its facility in Jamshedpur, India.
Usha Martin Ltd, Jamshedpur, India, recently awarded an order to Danieli to modernize the facility’s existing wire rod mill and complete its new bar mill.
The wire rod mill, which was previously modified by Danieli, will now be upgraded to reach finishing speeds of up to 95 meters/second with an enhanced quality of the on-line heat-treated wire rod. Danieli’s scope of supply will include replacement of three pre-finishing roll stands with new roll units, modification of the finishing block to enable the finishing speed increase, and installation of a new water cooling line. Danieli will also provide a new oil-film-bearing laying head, and will extend and complete the existing controlled-cooling conveyor.
Danieli will also supply a new multi-groove two-high P635 top-driven vertical stand, plus associated auxiliaries and services, to complete the bar mill.
For the bar mill, equipment delivery is planned for the end of 2007, while equipment delivery for the wire rod mill is scheduled for February 2008.
