Danieli was recently contracted to supply an 850,000 tonne/year facility for Al Rajhi Steel, Saudi Arabia, on a complete turnkey basis.

The contract expands on an original order for the steelmaking plant, awarded early last year, which was to include a 100-tonne EAF, ladle furnace, 5/6-strand billet caster, material handling system and ancillary parts.

According to the more recent agreement, Danieli will now supply all other auxiliary plants and equipment on a turnkey basis. This includes MV/LV distribution system and auxiliary systems such as the fume treatment plant, LPG storage, HVAC, fire fighting, maintenance workshop, and DRI dedusting plant. Danieli will also supply all piping, cabling and structures.

Danieli will be responsible for erection and supervision of all equipment, which will be installed in the Jeddah Industrial area. The new facilities will feed Al Rajhi Steel’s hot rolling mill division to produce 750,000 tonnes/year of merchant long products.
