Danieli to Supply Spooler Line to Alfa Acciai
04/08/2025 - Italian steel manufacturer Alfa Acciai has tapped Danieli to supply a spooler line to be installed at its Brescia works.
The company said the new line will replace its existing one, upgrading the weight limit from 3-metric-ton coils to 2.4- to 8-metric-ton coils. The diameters will range from 8 to 16 mm but could be upgraded to 18- and 20-mm diameters in the future.
Danieli said its K-Spool technology allows reliable, continuous, torsion-free winding of spooled bars in coils up to 8 metric tons. It includes casting rolling or billet welding rolling.
The companies previously collaborated in 2007 to produce spooled bars in coils in endless mode using Danieli billet welding and spooling technologies.
Hot start-up is expected for early 2026, the companies said.
