Danieli to Supply New Seamless Pipe Complex for OMK Trubodetal
12/02/2014 - Russia’s largest pipe fitting producer, Trubodetal, a subsidiary of United Metallurgical Company (OMK), has placed an order to establish an integrated pipe complex with Italian plant manufacturer Danieli for a new 9 5/8” seamless tube plant.
The new plant with a designed annual capacity of 500,000 metric tons per annum will be built and operated on the grounds of the former Chusovoy Steel Works in Chusovoy in the Perm Region of Russia. It will produce high-quality seamless tubes with excellent tolerances and flawless material properties according to international API and Gost standards. The production range includes tubes with diameters between 73.0 and 245.0 mm Ø and a wall thickness range from 4.0 to 35.0 mm.
Within the framework of its successful cooperation with Danieli Centro Tube (DCT), FRIEDRICH KOCKS GMBH & CO KG will be responsible for the process, design, supply and commissioning of the extracting block (EXB) and the stretch reducing block SRB® as essential components of the continuous hot rolling mill.
OMK Trubodetal has therewith opted for rolling blocks with a modular design which allow for the operation with both non-adjustable and adjustable 3-roll stands. The SRB is designed for a concurrent operation with two different roll stand sizes. The stands of the EXB are interchangeable with those corresponding to the SRB.
The specific design characteristics (i.e. the fast responding individual roll drive, the pass remote control for the adjustable stands, the quick changing systems for stands and rolls and the efficient roll machining) considerably minimize the number of roll stand inventory and thus the investment and operating cost, which are otherwise required for optimum production.
The advanced automation system enables the visualization of the measured data of the hot rolling mill concurrently allowing the operator to control the operation, minimizing heavy ends and wall thickness variation. This translates into a consistently high production of seamless tubes of reproducible top quality as well as it reduces mistakes in operation to an utmost extent.
