Jianlong Group Co., Ltd. has contracted Danieli CentroMet / Danieli Changshu Metallurgical Equipment and Service Co., Ltd. to supply a new conticaster for large-size rounds to be installed in its Chengde steel plant.
The new continuous casting machine (CCM) has a design capacity of about 1 million tonnes per year of 300 to 600-mm-diameter rounds in steel grades including alloy and high carbon grades for pinions, bearing, pipes, and automotive applications.
The five-strand, 14-m radius caster, featuring the latest FastCast™ technology for high-speed casting of quality round blooms, will process the liquid steel supplied by the upstream LD converter and ladle refining station, including vacuum degassing treatment. Other main design characteristics are hydraulic mold oscillator, mold EMS by Danieli-Rotelec, multi-module withdrawal and straitening system.
Danieli Automation will supply the complete integrated electrical and level 2 automation system, as well as the interconnecting communication systems.
The commissioning of the new caster is planned for early 2011.
In a separate announcement, Stefana Spa has contracted Danieli for the supply of a FastCast CCM for production of billets, to be installed in its Montirone steelworks.
The four-strand CCM is dimensioned to produce square sections between 120 x 120 mm to 200 x 200 mm, being the outfit sections 120 x 120, 130 x 130, 160 x 160, and 130 x 170 mm, in a range of quality steel grades (resulphurized steels, boron medium carbon, low and medium carbon steels).
Danieli says that the new conticaster will be fitted with all the latest technologies in fast casting of quality billets. It will feature an advanced level 1 and level 2 automatic equipment and process control system.
Machine startup is expected at the end of 2010.
