The two Chinese steelmakers hope that the new casters will help meet the growing demand worldwide for steel components for the power generation industry. According to a press release, the 18-m radius casters will be able to produce large round sections from 700 to 1,200 mm, with total production capacities exceeding 1 million metric tons per year.

Start-up is scheduled for Jiangsu Yonggang in January 2022 and Chengde Jianlong’s start-up is expected in April 2022.
