12/07/2007 - Danieli will supply a new 400,000-tonnes/year high-speed wire rod and bar-in-coil mill for Walcownia Ostrowiec, a newly-formed company within the Interspeed Group.
Walcownia Ostrowiec, Poland, a newly-formed company within the Interspeed Group, has contracted Danieli to supply a new 400,000-tonnes/year high-speed wire rod and bar-in-coil mill.
Fed by a 90-tonnes/hour Danieli Centro Combustion walking beam reheat furnace, the state-of-the-art mill will comprise an 18-stand continuous mill arranged over SHS housingless stands. The wire rod production outlet will include a 10-pass DWB high-speed finishing block with water-cooling line, oil-film-bearing loop layer, and controlled cooling conveyor.
The bar-in-coil line comprises two Garrett coilers plus a walking beam conveyor fitted with fans for on-line heat treatment of coils. Sund Birsta finishing facilities will serve both coil production outlets.
The new mill’s product range will include 18- to 60-mm diameter coiled round bars and 5.5- to 20-mm diameter plain (or 6- to 16-mm diameter quenched deformed) wire rod, produced at operation speeds of up 105 meters/second, in up to 2.3-tonne coils. The steel range includes a large variety of quality and engineering grades, including spring and bearing steels.
Danieli Automation will supply all electricals and the advanced automation system. Operation of the new plant will start in the spring of 2009.
