Danieli to Provide Cold Mill Complex for Acciaieria Arvedi

Acciaieria Arvedi, Italy, recently awarded Danieli a contract to supply of a complete new cold mill complex.

Danieli’s scope of supply for the project includes a 650,000 tonne/year push-pull pickling line, 1.7-million tonne/year continuous pickling line and directly coupled tandem mill, and two 350,000 tonne/year hot dip galvanizing lines.

Acciaieria Arvedi will treat heavy gauges (1.5 to 12 mm) with the push-pull pickling line, which includes 3- x 16-meter pickling tanks. Lighter gauges (0.6 to 4 mm) will be treated on the continuous pickling line, which includes 4- x 28-meter pickling tanks. The continuous pickling line is coupled with a three-stand 6-high Tandem Mill.

The first line to be commissioned will be the push-pull pickling line, which is scheduled to start up in September 2008. The continuous pickling line, which will start its testing phase in December 2008, will be coupled with the tandem mill in October 2009. The No. 2 and No. 3 galvanizing lines will follow on July and December 2009, respectively.

The new facilities will incorporate high-tech plants and equipments that are cost-effective in producing an ever-increasing volume of galvanized coils as required by the market. The new facilities have ambitious targets for reaching extremely high productivity with ultra-thin gauges.
