Alphasteel Ltd, U.K., has selected Danieli Automation to revamp its Hot Strip Mill.

The project comprises supply of a HiPAC (High Performance Automation Control) system including level 1 and level 2 mathematical models for mill setup and coiling temperature control as well as new electrical systems such as Medium Voltage distribution.

Alphasteel’s hot strip mill mainly produces strip and light gauges in high quality API grades for the pipe industry.

At the Newport plant, a new mould level control system (electromagnetic type), Level 1 and Level 2 automation and a new process control system are currently being commissioned on Danieli thin slab caster. On the cold products side, Alphasteel has also awarded Danieli Automation an order for a complete new automation system for a 4-high temper mill.
